I'm become so wary and weird about trying unfamiliar (to me) authors.
I'm usually wary too, but I've come out of my shell a bit for the Merlin fandom and found some pleasant surprises. I recommend checking out authors such as moonythestrals, thisissirius, and janne_d. There are stories I've liked that have been written by other authors, but I've liked almost everything written by these three.
